The Export-Import Bank and Its Victims: Which Industries and States Bear the Brunt?

The facts are that Ex-Im policies reward some companies and penalize many others in the process. The victims of Ex-Im’s policies populate 189 of 236 non-aircraft manufacturing sub-industries and all of the 21 broad manufacturing industry categories. The costs are borne in every U.S. state and in many of them the victims are crucial industries. The top-5 victims cumulatively account for 50 percent or more of manufacturing value-added in 7 U.S. states, and the top 10 victims cumulatively account for two-thirds or more of manufacturing value-added in 22 states. In 17 U.S. states, the largest manufacturing industry was a top-5 Ex-Im victim.
