Obamacare’s Single-Payer Endgame: Steve Moore on the Inexorable Future of American Healthcare

In an interview with Encounter Books’ Ben Weingarten, Heritage Foundation research economist Steve Moore expressed unvarnished pessimism with respect to the current healthcare regime. He maintained that healthcare should be based on true insurance where upfront costs for things like going in for a check-up or a dental exam and that true insurance should only cover major medical procedures, rather than the panoply of minor conditions delineated in the Affordable Care Act, colloquially known as “Obamacare.” Moore believes that the endgame of Obamacare has always been to end up with a single-payer system—a socialized healthcare system.
