Preserving Religious Freedom for All Americans

With the cooperation of Congress, a new Administration can restore religious freedom. While state-by-state legislative battles to protect the free exercise of religion guaranteed by the First Amendment are ongoing, Congress will ensure that the federal government does not discriminate against the millions of Americans who believe that marriage is the union of a man and a woman by passing the First Amendment Defense Act. This policy would forbid the federal government from discriminating in tax policy, grants, contracts, licensing, and accreditation against individuals or groups simply because of their beliefs about marriage.
