The fundamental education of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics is dwindling in the United States. The crisis America demands a sense of urgency and an openness to innovative educational and policy solutions. Complacency is causing the U.S. to lose its economic edge. But promising strategies with a proven track record are available and should be expanded. By freeing the path to teaching, more people with a passion for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics will be enabled to pass on their passion to students.
