The agricultural sector of the US economy is currently enjoying record profits that have increased by more than 100 percent over the last few years. Therefore, is there any rationale for providing billions of dollars of support to a wealthier segment of society that enjoys higher incomes than other businesses? As observers of farm policy for the last 25 years, we still do not have a reasonable answer to this question.
